Julie Euvrard

Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Experimental Solid State Physics

Julie Euvrard joined Imperial College London in 2023 as a Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant Professor) and founded Echoes Lab in the Department of Physics. Her research focuses on transport and optoelectronic properties of emerging semiconducting materials for solar energy applications, including perovskites and organic semiconductors.

Julie graduated with a PhD at CEA Grenoble, France, and University Lille I, France, where she studied electrical doping in organic semiconductors under the supervision of Dr. Dominique Vuillaume (CNRS), Prof. Antoine Kahn (Princeton University) and Dr. Amélie Revaux (CEA). After graduation, Julie joined the group of Prof. David Mitzi at Duke University, USA, where she focused on perovskite materials for photovoltaic applications. At Duke, Julie developed halide perovskite doping and used advanced photo-Hall effect to unravel optoelectronic properties in these semiconductors. In 2021, Julie became a Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellow at the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment at Princeton University, USA, where she worked with Prof. Barry Rand and Prof. Antoine Kahn. At Princeton, Julie developed Hall and photo-Hall effect on organic semiconductors to better understand charge transport in this family of materials.

Julie grew up in France with a Chef as a father, making cooking traditional French and childhood dishes a pastime close to her heart. Julie also values her figure skating practice as efficient getaway from daily stress. Finally, her to-read list mostly contains science books on various subjects, with a particular interest in behavioural science.

If you want to know more about Julie's path into physics and her experience as a woman and first generation scientist, you can read this interview in Women on Wednesday.
